This simple recipe for low-carb crispy air fryer kale chips and a perfect keto snack is an absolute must-try.

When harvested during the Fall, kale has a sweet, nutty flavour which is why it makes the perfect chip.

Today, I will share how to make perfect air fryer kale chips in 8 minutes.

Buying An Air Fryer

In January, our microwave quit working, so we searched for a new one.

Instead of purchasing a standard microwave, we bought a 3 in 1 Cuisinart/Air Fryer oven.

Model: AMW-60C
• 3-in-1: microwave, air fryer and convection oven with specially engineered heater/fan configuration for optimal results
• Air fryer and oven functions: adjustable time and temperature, preset options
• Microwave functions: preset microwave options, 11 power levels (0-10), auto-cook, defrost by time or weight
• Sleek touchpad controls with white LED display
• Stainless-steel interior will not absorb odours and is easy to clean
• Make all your favourites, including french fries, chicken wings and frozen snacks
• Convenient child lock option
• Oven light to view your progress
• Capacity: 0.6 cubic feet
• Wattage: 1500 (air fryer/oven); or 700 (microwave)
• Dimensions: 14″ x 20″ x 14″
• Care: refer to owner’s manual

Amazon Canada

I wasn’t sure at first if I’d use the air fryer as I’m not one for gadget kitchen appliances.

We bought it from The Shopping Channel (TSC) for its excellent reviews and price.

It was the first time we had shopped at TSC, and we could apply a Rakuten discount code to make it even cheaper.

However, I took the chance and am glad because we often use the air fryer.

The air fryer will be handy in the summer instead of turning on the oven in the heat.

Air Fryer Kale Chips

While grocery shopping at Food Basics, Mrs. CBB picked up a bag of fresh chopped kale that was 50% off the regular price.

Years ago, we tried to make oven-baked kale chips, which was horrible.

We hesitated to try it again until I suggested making kale chips in the air fryer instead.

The great thing about our air fyer is that it’s small, so we can do test batches.

Tips To Make The Best Air Fryer Kale Chips

Here are a few tips I’ve learned about making air fryer kale chips that you should know.

  • Ensure the washed kale is dry before you season it with oil and spices.
  • Kale chips need time and should not be rushed.
  • Spread the kale evenly in the air fryer and not on each other.
  • Kale chips are best eaten the same day.
  • Store air fryer kale chips in a paper bag for optimal crunch and freshness.

Growing and Harvesting Kale

My father-in-law grew kale in his hearty garden, which is easy to grow.

Growing kale requires full sunlight, high-nitrogen fertilizer, compost manure, and mulch to moisten the soil.

Kale is fast growing; you’ll often harvest if you provide the right environment.

You may notice that kale grows best during the late summer or early Fall as temperatures drop.

When growing Kale during the hot summer, please wait until it’s cool to harvest the plants.

How to make Air Fryer Kale Chips

For less cleanup, you’ll need an air fryer, gloves, and tin foil (optional) for this recipe.

I made garlic parmesan whiskey BBQ flavoured kale chips which are freaking amazing.

Ingredients For Kale Chips

  • 3 cups of fresh, chopped, washed, and dried kale leaves
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons of extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 cup fresh grated Parmigiano Regianno cheese
  • 1 clove of minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons of Whiskey BBQ seasoning Clubhouse (optional or use your favourite spice mix).
  • Salt and Pepper

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, add the washed and dried kale leaves.
  • Add the extra-virgin olive oil and, using your hands, coat each of the leaves.
  • Mince one clove of garlic and add it along with the cheese and seasoning of choice.
  • Mix again, ensuring all the kale leaves are coated.
  • Add tin foil to the base of your air fryer for easy cleanup.
  • Gently set each kale leaf in the basket so they are not overlapping.
  • Set the air fryer to 350 degrees for 8 minutes.
  • Remove and let the kale chips cool to crisp, and then enjoy.

Note: Each air fryer is different, so test a batch and see if you need a bit longer or to reduce the time.

Super-Fast KETO Mug Biscuit In 90 Seconds

Yield: 1
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 2 minutes
Total Time: 7 minutes

You don’t have to wait around for a loaf of bread or a pan of biscuits to bake in the oven when you can whip a Keto mug biscuit up in 90 seconds. This is a must-try and versatile to add your own seasonings and spices.

Ingredients

  • 1 large egg room temp
  • 1 tablespoon coconut flour
  • 2 tablespoons almond flour
  • 1 tablespoon whey protein powder no flavour
  • pinch of ground Himalayan pink salt or sea salt
  • 11/2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon room temp butter
  • 1 tablespoon of whipping cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon organic apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. Put all of the ingredients in your soup mug and mix just until combined.
  2. Using the back of your spoon level the top of the biscuit batter.
  3. Microwave on high for 90 seconds.
  4. Run a knife around the edge of the biscuit.
  5. Turn over onto cutting board and cool for 5 minutes on a wire rack.
  6. Once cool you can slice it in half or into thirds which we do. That middle slice will give you an extra treat for later.
  7. Ignore the cooking time you see because it won’t let me add 90 seconds so I put 2 mins in but it’s 90 seconds.
