Follow my story and learn how to make money through blogging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Blogging earned me an <strong>extra income of $100 in 2013,<\/strong> and I was on top of the world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>It may seem like nothing<\/strong>, but that was $100 I didn&#8217;t have or knew I could earn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Heck, yes, and I want to share how I&#8217;ve done it with you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, I&#8217;m starting with my highest moment after blogging for two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-blogging-for-extra-money\">Blogging For Extra Money<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When I created Canadian Budget Binder, it was never meant to earn extra income for my family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That&#8217;s because I had no idea you could earn money blogging. Boy, was I ever WRONG?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All I wanted to do was share our journey to debt freedom and perhaps help others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Along the way, I&#8217;ve chatted with thousands of my readers through social media and emails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What I&#8217;ve learned is that there are many similarities regarding debt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The central core of Canadian Budget Binder was supposed to be <strong>guidance and motivation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Canadian Budget Binder has done all that and more for readers who are serious about saving money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although many readers of Canadian Budget Binder are silent, there are plenty who have lots to say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I encourage readers who want to know more to communicate with me via comments, social media, or email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-who-am-i\">Who Am I?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>My Name Is Mr.CBB<\/strong>, an anonymous <strong>Finance + Frugal Living Blogger<\/strong> if you&#8217;re new to this blog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I worked a full-time job and started CBB part-time in 2012, and I continue to do so in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As I learn more about blogging, I often update old blog posts on my days off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My family and I live in the Greater Toronto Area, and I&#8217;ve always been keen on blogging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" angle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Canadian Budget Binder is more than just finance; it&#8217;s about everything in between.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You&#8217;ll find topics about Canadian real estate recipes, from keto and non-keto to debt reduction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I wanted this to be somewhere where people could vent, share ideas, network, and understand they are not alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can read more about me Reports<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Looking back, I had no clue how to blog, earn affiliate income, advertise, freelance, and sponsor posts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then I realized that I&#8217;m <strong>earning a 5 figure monthly income<\/strong>, and perhaps I should share how I&#8217;ve done it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ve always wanted to share my blogging income reports and how to blog with my readers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each month since starting CBB, I have shared our actual monthly budget and net worth progress. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, maybe you might want to know more about blogging income.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My goal with my new <strong>Blogging Series<\/strong> is to engage those who want to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/canadianbudgetbinder.com\/2020\/08\/18\/4-ways-to-earn-extra-income-in-2020\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">earn extra income<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is so much to talk about when it comes to blogging, but don&#8217;t worry; it gets easier as you go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ve made many mistakes with Canadian Budget Binder but learned from them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I don&#8217;t think you&#8217;ll talk to any blogger who wouldn&#8217;t say they messed up or missed opportunities with their blog. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Making my first $100 on Canadian Budget Binder increased my money-making curiosity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-why-blogging-for-income-takes-a-special-person\">Why Blogging For Income Takes A Special Person<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Blogging can earn money, boost your annual income and perhaps help you retire early.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I know a few bloggers who have quit their day jobs to blog full-time because they earn so much money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m not talking about a few thousand monthly but millions yearly from finance to food bloggers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Blogging must be a passion in your blood, and you must desire to learn as much as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Educating myself about blogging was <strong>the very first thing I did<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I read the book <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.ca\/gp\/offer-listing\/B08G22HPMW\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=15121&amp;creative=330641&amp;creativeASIN=B08G22HPMW&amp;linkCode=am2&amp;tag=canabudgbind-20&amp;linkId=6e29f80ed35abaed489d6c16bff7e981\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Blogging For Dummies<\/a><\/strong> and made loads of notes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m not joking and it&#8217;s a book that changed my life because it took me from Zero to 10 in terms of blogging knowledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, there&#8217;s far more to learn about how to blog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s more like Zero to 100, but you learn where you&#8217;ve gone right and wrong with time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Often, I shake my head at missed opportunities, but that&#8217;s okay because I am moving forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-ways-can-i-earn-money-blogging\">What Ways Can I Earn Money Blogging?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the question I should have asked myself many years ago, but thankfully, it found me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I started this blog on a free WordPress site where I would ramble on about budgeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As time passed, I branched out to include all facets of topics in a budget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I had no idea about advertising as it was not offered to someone new like I was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After two years of growing my WordPress blog, they offered me advertising opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<a href=\"https:\/\/automattic.pxf.io\/c\/2457049\/1945173\/22744\" target=\"_top\" id=\"1945173\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/\/a.impactradius-go.com\/display-ad\/22744-1945173\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" width=\"1940\" height=\"500\"\/><\/a>\n\n\n\n<p>I jumped on it because paying for a domain, URL, and yearly renewals costs money. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I decided to leave when I learned that the free WordPress site would not make me rich.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I ventured to wordpress.org, where <strong>I had complete control over my blog<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That meant I could earn extra income on my terms and was given a platform to grow my blog further.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below Is how I make money blogging on the Canadian Budget Binder in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since I only blog part-time, I&#8217;m working hard to increase CBB&#8217;s earning potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m not earning millions of dollars a year or even hundreds of thousands a month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some months are better than others, but all you can do is answer the burning questions your readers want to know about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is why it&#8217;s so important to hear from my blog readers about their need for help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Perhaps they want me to share an experience I haven&#8217;t yet on the blog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every question matters, and I read them all on the blog and as much as possible on social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ways-i-earn-money-on-canadian-budget-binder\">Ways I Earn Money On Canadian Budget Binder<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The<strong> four ways I earn money on Canadian Budget Binder<\/strong> are;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Affiliate income<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sponsored Posts<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Freelancing <\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Advertising with Mediavine<\/strong> <strong>but started with Google<\/strong> <strong>Ads<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-affiliate-income\">Affiliate Income <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is affiliate income? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Affiliate income is income earned when you, the reader, click on a link affiliated with a product or service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I only share affiliate links to products or services I have used or tested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you sign up on one of my affiliate links or make a purchase, this blog earns a tiny commission. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are many affiliate companies you can sign up for, which I will share in an upcoming blog series post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-sponsored-posts\">Sponsored Posts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Not all bloggers like to have sponsored posts on their blogs, but many do, including Canadian Budget Binder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A sponsored post is when a company wants to share its product or insights on a topic related to CBB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m picky about sponsored posts and set my bar high because quality is essential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is why you may only see a handful each year, but the rest of the blog posts are written. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes, a company wants you to write a blog post, including a writing fee of $400 up to $1000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Believe me; you&#8217;ll get people emailing you daily about sponsored posts and links. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s up to you to proceed with sponsored posts; however, they are big moneymakers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-freelancing\">Freelancing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For a while, I was freelancing for a well-known online website, <strong>She Knows Canada<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was fun, but I didn&#8217;t have the time while working a full-time job, but the pay was nice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m mentioning this as bloggers have opportunities to freelance and earn even more money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You could also become an expert on Pinterest and help other blogs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Perhaps you&#8217;re an expert at Search Engine Optimization and network your skills to earn extra money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-advertising\">Advertising <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is advertising on a blog?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once I went self-hosted, I used Google Ads to earn money blogging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It wasn&#8217;t much, but I took what I could get.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although readers may not like the ads, remember that they generate income for bloggers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over 2 years ago, I switched to <strong>Mediavine marketing<\/strong>, and I&#8217;ve never looked back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It has been the best thing I&#8217;ve done for this blog and has <strong>increased my blog income<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The thing is that as a blog gets bigger, like CBB, it comes with more expenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I have a blog mechanic named Sara (she looks after the back end of the blog) who pays for plugins to make the blog run smoothly, hosting fees, domain and privacy expenses, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is where Mediavine has helped me SO much, and I plan to stay with them suggest, and head to a self-hosted blog, that&#8217;s a start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Blogging is not a get-rich-quick way to earn money, as it takes time to build the layers of your blog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some bloggers can start earning money blogging right away through affiliate links. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The most important part of blogging is building your email list and informative blog posts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I didn&#8217;t know what Niche to tackle when I started this critical blog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You want to create a blog that you have lots to talk about. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I knew budgeting and debt would dominate this blog, which has recipes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As your blog grows, advertisers will hit you from every direction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Be careful, though; some are sketchy or think you don&#8217;t know about blogging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ll discuss sponsored posts, guest posts, etc., in another blog post blogging series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can earn money immediately if you are self-hosted, as CBB is with Big Scoots (they are amazing).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can read more about <strong>Big Scoots<\/strong> <strong><a business bank account was mind-blowing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It took about 5 months to generate my blog, but <strong>I could have earned much more self-hosted<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>I made money blogging and wondered how to make even more<\/strong> <strong>extra money.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-importance-of-networking-while-blogging\">The Importance Of Networking While Blogging<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In the earlier days of finance blogging in Canada, I struggled to network. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of my blogging friends are American, which was fine because we tossed ideas off each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We guest-posted on each other&#8217;s blogs to share our experiences and for exposure, and we still do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, there are many Canadian bloggers in the finance niche, all of whom share a different angle from CBB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, my blogger friend at <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.myownadvisor.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">My Own Advisor<\/a><\/strong> blogs about investing and shares his dividend updates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He&#8217;s far smarter than I am with investing, so he&#8217;s my go-to guy for investing, and I admit I&#8217;m jealous about how well he&#8217;s done. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ve told him numerous times that I want to learn to invest independently, and I know he&#8217;ll eventually get me there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tom Drake, who blogs at Maple Money, is another fantastic Canadian Blogger to follow. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are all blogging, but our experiences are different, and another reason we help each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ll talk more about my favorite Canadian Finance Bloggers in another post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-reach-out-and-ask-to-guest-post\">Reach Out And Ask To Guest Post<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Like any career, networking is essential, and I encourage new bloggers to contact others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I often give opportunities to new bloggers a chance to guest post on this blog. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I also encourage Canadian bloggers to share their expertise on topics I&#8217;m not an expert on. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most importantly, it&#8217;s about having a group of people you trust in your niche to help you out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-do-you-need-to-be-an-expert-when-blogging\">Do You Need To Be An Expert When Blogging?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I think I&#8217;m proof that you do NOT need to be an expert when starting a blog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Starting a blog is about learning and sharing, and you will make mistakes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Read <strong><a
