Labour Day 2020 Activities For The Family<\/h2>\n

Things have changed around the world this year and celebrating Labour Day 2020<\/strong> for us will be mildly different.<\/p>\n

What Is Labour Day?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Labour Day is a statutory holiday celebrated throughout Canada the first Monday of every September.<\/p>\n

It was originated for workers to rally for better pay and working conditions although it has become more of a day of celebration and rest.<\/p>\n

There will be no shopping for sales on labour day but lots of deals to be had if you’re willing to spend time looking.<\/p>\n

When Is Labour Day 2020?<\/h2>\n

This year Labour Day falls on Monday, September 7th, 2020<\/strong> as we slowly glide into a week of uncertainty.<\/p>\n

Most businesses will be closed in Canada on Labour Day 2020 and families will have no labour day parades to attend.<\/p>\n

Labour Day 2020 and Back To School<\/h2>\n

For us, our labour day 2020 will revolve around family time, chilling out, and mentally preparing for back to school next week.<\/p>\n

For those kids that will be heading to school and for those who will be homeschooled everything will come with big changes.<\/p>\n

I’m sure every parent has been scrambling to keep on top of their school board with updates every day.<\/p>\n

Our back to school shopping is done although we didn’t buy much apart from 2 pairs of used jogging pants from Value Village for our son.<\/p>\n

The Dollar Store took care of back to school essentials such as pencils, ruler, erasers, crayons, markers, and a duo-tang.<\/p>\n

Our Typical Labour Day Traditions<\/h2>\n

Typically our Labour day traditions revolve around a full weekend of farms, apples, and Fall Fairs in the Greater Toronto Area.<\/p>\n

Our son loves going to the carnivals, eating junk food, and watching Monster Truck races among so many other cool Ontario displays.<\/p>\n

It’s his birthday weekend tradition that we’ve done since he was 4 years old but this year will be different and we’ve had to explain why.<\/p>\n

The fair has been cancelled and there’s no games, rides, farm tractors, or animals to pet and make funny faces at.<\/p>\n

A city-wide parade on Labour Day 2020 won’t be happening due to Covid-19 so we won’t be attending that either.<\/p>\n

All that’s left for us is to find activities that we can do as a family that doesn’t revolve around our traditional labour day travels.<\/p>\n

Creating New Labour Day 2020 Family Traditions<\/h2>\n

We’ve kept to ourselves since the Covid-19 outbreak around the world and always practice social distancing.<\/p>\n

Since it’s our little guys’ birthday we plan on celebrating and making it as memorable as every other year.<\/p>\n

We bought him the birthday cake that he requested as he has aversions to certain foods so it was his choice.<\/p>\n

To start our Labour Day 2020 breakfast will be fluffy pancakes with butter<\/strong><\/a> and Canadian maple syrup with crispy bacon.<\/p>\n

This is a traditional Labour Day breakfast that we make that the entire family loves. Mrs. CBB will have her keto pancakes though.<\/p>\n

Most of the day will be spent outdoors at the local park playing soccer, family tag, and long swing sessions.<\/p>\n

A nature trail walk along the river is also on the agenda as we will be collecting fancy rocks for our collection.<\/p>\n

We’ll bring some home that we can paint on the front porch and put in our rock garden for sidewalk viewing.<\/p>\n

It’s amazing how often we see this and so we planned to make it a new tradition for labour day each year.<\/p>\n

Lastly, we’re returning home to make homemade pizza together, eating birthday cake, and opening birthday gifts.<\/p>\n

The rest of the weekend will be spent cleaning up the gardening and getting ready for the leaves to take flight.<\/p>\n

As the September weather blankets Ontario the summer herbs and vegetables will be laid to rest.<\/p>\n

They all did wonderfully and produced a great harvest for our family something that we appreciate come during the fall and winter months.<\/p>\n

Nothing Wrong With New Beginnings<\/h2>\n

Just because we won’t be going to the local fairs and labour day parades and other celebrations are on hold doesn’t mean we have to give up.<\/p>\n

Make new labour day traditions with your family whether it’s day fishing, trail walking, foraging, or searching for stones like we are.<\/p>\n

The idea of labour day has become a day of rest before the storm so enjoy it and make the best of it.<\/p>\n
