YOUR JUNK IS WORTH SOMETHING

It’s true that your junk might just be worth something although that something might not necessarily be for you.
\n<\/em><\/p>\n

You’re not going to become a millionaire by getting rid of your junk unless tucked away you have something rare that you didn’t even know you had.<\/p>\n

If you are like most of us getting rid of junk especially if you sell it will net you a some form of profit which you can use to pay down debts or bring more junk into your home. The reality is that most people are happier with less stuff.<\/p>\n

The more stuff we acquire over the years and pack away in our homes tends to cause stress for some people who have an urge to want to keep everything clean but they simply don’t have the time. My wife is like this because she is what one would consider a clean freak.<\/p>\n

Yes, she loves everything to be clean before we leave the house. That means we make the bed in the morning, vacuum, clean the floors, no dishes in the sink and tidy up. I’m not talking about a deep clean just an organized clean that is liveable without chores piling up every day.<\/p>\n

Trying to forget about all the junk you have is not easy because you have to live with it so the next best thing is to find a way to make your junk someone else’s junk.<\/p>\n

Now that\u00a0 Spring cleaning<\/a> is in full-effect many of you are ready to clear out the old so you can bring in the new. I don’t blame you though because the more stuff you have the more work you have especially if you want to move.<\/p>\n

Admit you have junk<\/span><\/h2>\n

If you are someone who has a house full of junk and when I say junk I mean stuff you don’t even know you have or has been left to collect dust. I will be the first to admit that we have lots of junk that we can get rid of and this includes lots of clothes.<\/p>\n

Now that we have our son there is so much baby stuff around the house adding to the clutter although we are the type of people where everything has it’s place. The only problem is there aren’t many places left to hide our junk.<\/p>\n

Plus, don’t underestimate the power of having doubles of items. You know the extras you have just in case the first one breaks. We all have something! You don’t need 3 lawnmowers or 4 sets of dishes.<\/p>\n

We all have junk in our house whether you want to admit it or not. Our neighbour up the road has his house for sale and is tasked with getting rid of junk that his late wife and himself have collected over the years.<\/p>\n

It’s amazing how much has come out of that house but it’s not a surprise at all.<\/p>\n

The hardest part about junk is getting rid of it because so many people come up with a solid excuse of “I might need it some day” and then it goes right back to taking up space in your closet, under your bed, in the basement, in the attic, garage or shed and so on.<\/p>\n

My wife is that person and although it’s hard for her to let go I have to step in and take charge.<\/p>\n

Someone has to.<\/p>\n

Don’t get the impression that our house is like a hoarders house either, it’s not. Far from it. It’s so neat and tidy that before we had our son we used to get compliments about how we should have the inside of our home in a magazine.<\/p>\n

My wife and I like to decorate the house on a frugal budget but lately we’ve just run out of space. We knew it was only going to be a matter of time and it’s happened.<\/p>\n

I was thinking about building storage above the garage to free up space but that is just another job to add to the already growing list of DIY I need to get done around here.<\/p>\n

What we need to do is create a junk removal action plan <\/strong>which includes any or all of the following below to get rid of junk in our house. You might even consider doing the same if you feel you could use a Spring clear-out.

Have a garage sale<\/span><\/h2>\n

Garage sale season typically gets a rolling start during the May 2-4 weekend in Canada but now that Facebook Garage Sale and Auction pages are alive and kicking there’s nothing stopping you from selling your junk 24\/7 around the clock all year-long.<\/p>\n

The best part is there is no set-up, early rising and dealing with hoards of money-saving people in your face. It’s simple, you hide behind your computer and sell your stuff.<\/p>\n

Although Kijiji has been around for many years it seems that many Facebook users are gearing more towards auctions because they can potentially get more money for their junk.<\/p>\n

Go check it out you might even notice some are getting more for a product they likely got on sale or what it’s worth. I’m not joking, I see it all the time. I wonder if people do their homework to find out how much something is worth that they are bidding on.<\/p>\n

If you’re not a fan of selling on Facebook get your junk ready and some tables because the nice weather is here to stay and you don’t have to wait for a special weekend to hold a garage sale.<\/p>\n
