{"id":117977,"date":"2023-02-16T06:43:05","date_gmt":"2023-02-16T11:43:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianbudgetbinder.com\/?p=117977"},"modified":"2024-12-11T17:03:43","modified_gmt":"2024-12-11T17:03:43","slug":"january-2023-monthly-budget-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/digitalskyweb.co\/canadianbudgetbinder.com\/2023\/02\/16\/january-2023-monthly-budget-update\/","title":{"rendered":"January 2023 Monthly Budget Update"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"yoast-reading-time__wrapper\"><span class=\"yoast-reading-time__icon\"><\/span><span class=\"yoast-reading-time__descriptive-text\">Estimated reading time:  <\/span><span class=\"yoast-reading-time__reading-time\">6<\/span><span class=\"yoast-reading-time__time-unit\"> minutes<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are new to Canadian Budget Binder, welcome to our 12th year of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/canadianbudgetbinder.com\/free-tools\/monthly-budgets-budget-highlights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sharing our monthly budget update.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ve changed how I share our monthly budget update for several reasons. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>No one cares about our net worth since <a href=\"https:\/\/canadianbudgetbinder.com\/2016\/08\/18\/5-simple-money-rules-we-live-by-to-stay-debt-free\/\">we are debt-free<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Our monthly net income is not that important <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>I will no longer share a monthly net worth update post but will post percentage updates with any increases and decreases in our investment portfolio. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the years, I&#8217;ve noticed little interaction with these posts, so I&#8217;ve had to axe them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below I will share our changes and our January 2023 monthly budget update.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-january-2023-monthly-budget-update\">January 2023 Monthly Budget Update<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Moving forward, everything below is what I will be sharing with you about our monthly budget. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m certainly open to ideas if you&#8217;d like to learn more about how we budget, so please reply to this email with your ideas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Specifically, I made the changes to focus on crucial budget aspects. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-2023-changes-to-our-monthly-budget-update\">2023 Changes To Our Monthly Budget Update<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>At the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/canadianbudgetbinder.com\/2023\/01\/17\/cbb-2022-year-end-budget-review\/\">end of 2022<\/a><\/strong>, I detailed changes we planned to make for our 2023 January Budget Update. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I have finished the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/canadianbudgetbinder.com\/2023\/01\/01\/canadian-budget-binder-2023-50-free-printables\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2023 Canadian Budget Binder<\/a><\/strong>, which has made tracking things easier. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Near the end of this blog post, you&#8217;ll notice we are tracking our <strong>grocery discounts for 2023<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We&#8217;ve wanted to do this for years to see how much we save on <strong>reduced food products<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aside from that cool new feature to the monthly budget update, below are changes I&#8217;ve incorporated into our new 2023 budget. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-budget-category-changes\">Budget Category Changes<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Monthly Budgeted Amount is <strong>$6840.26,<\/strong> which includes our investments. food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This section will have a blurb about our monthly grocery discounts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I will tally it at the end of the year to see how much we saved buying reduced food products.
