I can agree with him though as we sock away over $300 a month to maintain our home and it’s not near as big a home as some of the monsters surrounding us, sorry, estates. The items at his garage sale were too pricey but the chat was nice.<\/p>\n
The very next garage sale we went to wasn’t on our garage sale list<\/a> because it was a random sale not posted anywhere that we noticed on-line. The couple was lovely and had lots of golf gear for sale because they said they were golf fanatics but had too much stuff. Every trinket under the sun was on the tables, so clearly their friends and family thought bobble heads with jerseys and random other sporty type ‘thingamabobs’ were cool gifts to give them. They were all for sale, and cheap. Sometimes I wonder if it’s even worth buying people crap like that if they don’t really care for it.<\/p>\n My wife found this sign with a $0.10 sticker and it read, ‘Get Me A Beer the In-laws are here’<\/strong> and she clearly thought I would like it for my garage. He then tells her to just take it, please take it away. So, he didn’t have to tell my wife twice. Then she looks down and sees a huge box filled with ‘things and stuff’ for free. When I see free I already think it’s going to be a great garage sale. Sometimes people aren’t so worried about having a successful garage sale, rather they just want to get rid of items they don’t need. Free or for money.<\/p>\n She makes her way through the box and finds DVD’s, VHS Disney movies, ear phones and a few CD’s such as Evanescence<\/a>, Blue Rodeo and Savage Garden. If you look close at the photo you will see ‘The Lion King’<\/strong> with a previous garage sale price <\/a>tag of $10. The box was loaded with stuff even playing cards and a harmonica in excellent shape.<\/p>\n Moving on to the final garage sale there was a young girl with a lemonade and chocolate chip muffin stand<\/a> again so we paid the little girl for a muffin and went on our way. Just before the end of the drive we noticed another box labelled ‘free stuff’ so we had a look inside. We found some heavy-duty carved wood decorative balls which would go great in that vase that we picked up the last time we went garage sailing. The wife also found a wall hanger with 3 elephant heads but one had come off so I will fix that for her. Mixed in the box was a couple of food strainers and a wallet which she liked, so she added that to her bag of freebies.<\/p>\n Overall, I’d say we had a fun garage sailing experience today costing us not 1 penny out of our pocket except for time and no gas because we didn’t drive although we didn’t go far at all. Spending the morning checking out garage sales might be worthwhile even if you don’t have any money to spend. You never know what free stuff you will find.<\/p>\n Have you ever gotten free stuff at a garage sale?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n As you know we went away for a couple of days and while we were away we picked up some new plants and enjoyed the gardens at our relatives and friends house. Our newest plant is the well-known super-food, the pomegranate tree with a botanical name called Punica granatum<\/a><\/b><\/i>. You can see from the photo that it has a developing fruit on the way and I can tell you it’s a beautiful sight especially when you see the pomegranate blossom.<\/p>\n According to Wikipedia the fruit is cultivated in the Mediterranean, Caucasus, Southern Europe, tropical Africa, northern Africa, the Indian subcontinent, Middle East and drier parts of Asia. Now it’s also growing in our back garden although it’s widely grown in California and Arizona.<\/p>\n If you like those red pomegranate seeds or juice you might just fancy this beautiful tree. It’s an eye stopper that’s for sure, especially with the deep red colour of the pomegranate fruit. There are many pomegranate health benefits which I wasn’t even aware of until I read 11 health benefits of Pomegranate juice<\/a>\u00a0which really made us feel good about enjoying pomegranates like we do.<\/p>\n Some of the health benefits listed are…..<\/p>\n The one point I found interesting in the article was that it prevents dental plaque<\/strong> which I’m sure many of you reading this right now had no idea about. Neither did I. To learn all you want to know about pomegranates read the wiki link above and get ready to be amazed.<\/p>\n We are so happy to own a fruiting pomegranate although we don’t know what the pomegranate tree size will be in the future, for now it’s small. We will need to read more about pruning pomegranate trees because they tend to get bushy from what I’ve researched.
